Squid Game first premiered four years ago. Yet, it still captivates Netflix subscribers, young and old. I started watching it right when it came out and absolutely loved the dystopian premise. I have a particular fondness for its iconic tracksuits and guard outfits. Plus, my son is obsessed. So, when I had a chance to do a Spirit Halloween Squid Game Guard Costume Review, I jumped at the opportunity.
We tested the pink guard jacket and the whole black guard outfit. While there are a few caveats, I was impressed with both costumes and look forward to keeping all the players in line this Halloween. Below are our experiences with the costumes and who should consider buying them.
Squid Game Guard Costume Review: First Impressions
The costumes come in the classic plastic packaging that your sexy sanitation worker or Aunt Gladys from Weapons outfits might go in. The Spirit Halloween Squid Game Guard Jacket Costume is available in adult sizes: medium, large, XL, and XXL. The set features the pink jacket and fabric mask. You’ll need to source some black gloves and other accessories to complete the look.
The Spirit Halloween Squid Game Black Guard Costume is currently only available in adult large/XL. This costume comes with everything you need: a hooded jumpsuit, a hard mask, a belt, and gloves.
What We Liked about the Spirit Halloween Costumes
The main features we liked about the Squid Game Guard Costumes are

- The kid’s mask has good visibility
- Easily recognizable costume
I loved the pink guard jacket. I avoid any outfits that I might wear just once. Instead, give me items that can be repurposed throughout the year. The jacket is one of those items —a perfect option for sweater weather. I like that it has pockets for storing my hands. It will keep me toasty as I accompany my son trick-or-treating.
What good is a mask if you get hit by a car? It’s no good. The fabric mask offers good visibility, while the hard mask that comes with the black guard costume provides excellent visibility, allowing your child to be more aware of their surroundings.
The only thing worse than having to ask someone, “Who are you supposed to be?” is having to tell everyone what you are dressed as. Anyone who has watched Squid Game will recognize the guard costumes. Heck, the show has become so permeated into our culture that you may be recognizable to people who have never seen it. If there is any question, the pink guard jacket straight-up has “Squid Game” printed on the breast pocket.
What We Didn’t Like
The costumes are spot-clean only. Presumably, you aren’t supposed to throw them in the washing machine. We will likely put that to the test after Halloween and report our findings afterward.
My son hated wearing the gloves that came with the black guard costume. He just didn’t like the feel of them. They were a little rough and unpleasant.
Who Should Buy the Squid Game Costumes?
The Spirit Halloween Squid Game Guard Costumes are an easy option for fans of the show. I look forward to being a guard with my son, and my wife has made her own costume for Young-hee, also known as the red light-green light doll. So, groups might consider this costume. Lastly, if you value costumes that you can wear year-round, I strongly recommend the comfy pink guard jacket. I’m sporting mine as I write this on a particularly brisk fall day.
