I have tremendous respect for vegetarians and vegans. Their diet is much more sustainable and environmentally-conscious than my slovenly ways. I just can’t live without my meats. Chicken, pork, beef, fish, squirrel. You name it. I’ll slather it in garlic, grill it up, and eat it. As a frugal person by nature (I’m Jewish and Dutch), I’m always looking for high-quality cheap meat. And, I consistently buy about 75% of my animal flesh from Zaycon Foods.
Why Zaycon?
Zaycon is not another name for our dark lord. It is an awesome farm-to-consumer wholesale meat distribution company that provides high-quality, cheap meat. For instance, I’m looking at what they have for sale now, and there are boneless skinless chicken thighs for $1.99 a pound, 80/20 ground beef for $2.99 a pound, and premium hickory smoked bacon for $3.79 per pound. And, their bacon is the best. It is thick cut and tastes better than anything I’ve gotten at the supermarket.
Zaycon is awesome, but there are a few downsides:
- They only sell in bulk – This works for me because I have a nice big freezer and know I will eat it all. I recommend getting a vacuum sealer as well so you can break the foodstuffs into more manageable portions.
- You have to pick the meat up at a certain time – Zaycon offers drop off points close to where you live. You drive there at the announced time, and they load your meat into your car. You don’t even have to get out.
- You pay now but get the meat later – Some of their meat is wildly popular. For instance, the bacon typically sells out so you have to order it as soon as it’s available. This could mean paying now and not getting your bacon for up to five months. I’ve never had a problem with this, but fair warning.
Help a Fella Feed His Growing Boys
If you follow my link to Zaycon Foods, you can enter the fabulous world of cheap meat, and you’ll help support the work of Brains Report because I get some sweet sweet referral credits with Zaycon, which I can then use to feed my growing boys who eat everything in sight. I strongly recommend taking them for a test drive. I especially suggest you order some bacon right now. You’re worth it.
