We get a lot of fan mail. And, we make a point of always answering correspondences. Occasionally, we get requests from readers in peril who need help choosing the right product for their needs. This was the case with a recent email we received:

“My beloved enormous memory foam pillow that I’ve had for 6+ years is getting old and is no longer its former magical self.

“And they no longer sell it, so I can’t just get a new one!

“In a thrilling sequel to the mattress topper article, what gloriously opulent memory foam pillow should I get?”

The mattress topper article was a huge hit at the box offices, and the major studios are already rounding up executive producers for the exciting pillow sequel. But, for now, we’ll tease you with this trailer:

The Best Option: Z Zoned Memory Foam Pillow with Rayon from Bamboo Velour Removable Cover

The Z-Zoned Memory Foam Pillow is made by Malouf, which, much like Brains Report, was founded by a wife/husband duo. They had a weird passion for luxurious sleep at a low price. I’m sure there’s some scary erotic reasoning for their passion that we don’t want to know about. Or maybe, talking about improving their bedding distracted from some tragic ED. I don’t know. That’s between them and their bed sheets.

We’re here to talk about their Z series of pillows. The Z is presumably short for “zzzzzzzzz” the sound you will make on their pillows. What makes the Z-Zoned pillows unique is their “dough” memory foam. This is a premium type of memory foam that provides excellent support, has a slower recovery time, and is more responsive than other memory foams.

Also, the scientists down at Malouf have developed “Zoned Technology.” Through my research technology, I discovered this is basically holes in the pillow (larger in the center and smaller around the perimeter) that are designed to provide support, airflow, and comfort.

What Others Are Saying

I can paint all sorts of pretty word pictures of this pillow with my writing technology, but it’s helpful to hear what others have to say. Many buyers have commented that this pillow has virtually no break-in period. However, it does take a few days for the odor of the memory foam to dissipate. If you don’t want to jam your head into a stinky pillow, let it air out in a well-ventilated area, such as the top of a flagpole. Though I didn’t find any reports of the memory foam breaking down, there were some users who were concerned. Fortunately, if you do have problems, there is a five-year warranty.

Lastly, Malouf put together a nice guide on how to choose the right pillow for your needs. TL;DR version: stomach sleepers should choose low-loft plush pillows, and everyone else should probably go with high-loft plush or low-loft firm.
